On Saturday the fourth of August, we spent the entire day cutting wood. When Michael cut down some of the trees around the pond a while back, we just dragged all that wood to the area next to the creek that is our burn/target shooting area. So, on a really hot day Michael asked us all to help clean it up, remove the limbs, etc. It was a long, hot dirty day. Maybe I should tell you again how hot it was? Michael taught the boys to use the chain saws. My job was to cut off all the branches (in preparation for when we cut it into fire wood.)

That first picture is the burn pile that will be lit in the fall if the burning ban is lifted by then. We are so dry here in Oregon that we may have to wait to burn.

Here are the logs, mostly devoid of branches. Ok so I missed some. Fire me please!

This pile is number one. There were two other piles as well.

Michael sneaked in a water logging job.  There was a large maple tree in the creek and he was determined to get it out. Did I tell you that I bought him a nice winch for Christmas last year? So much easier to get logs out with a winch. The tree had a huge root ball on the end of it. He wanted to just pull the whole thing out but he had to cut off the root ball. That whole process took a lot of time so I went back to the house. Hence, no picture of the log. I waited as long as I could.  At the end of the day we decided to go to Shari’s for breakfast and pie. (Nicholas was the only one to have pie)

I can’t believe we are half way through August!

Enjoy,

Karen
