Check another project off of the list for Michael.
We have a laundry room in our new home. I love it. I didn’t have one in our last home. But there wasn’t any place to store stuff in the laundry room. So, for nearly six months this is what it looked like.
All my laundry stuff was still in boxes and crammed on the top of the dryer. I really wanted it all put away and a counter on which I could fold laundry.
It was not on the top of the list. We both agreed that it needed to wait. While we waited we discussed what we should do. Do we buy the pre-made cabinetry from Lowes? Do we try to find a cute piece of furniture? Or should Michael build something?
We decided on the latter.
A few weeks ago he started working on it “in between” other more pressing projects. He has always been a more than capable carpenter and I think it turned out lovely.
Here is what my laundry room looks like now.
Inside the cabinet is a shelf and now all my stuff is put out of sight. I would have taken a picture of it but then you would see all the stuff which would void the whole point of having a cabinet in the first place. So no, you don’t get to see in the cabinet 🙂
Aaahhh. It is tidy and put away. Much better.
Thank you sweetie!
Enjoy the day,
Karen
Oooooo. How nice is that. Makes me want to tackle my laundry area. I wish I had a magic carpenter!

Hey, how about tackling my laundry! It seems to have piled up 🙂 xoxox, Karen
nice!
Yes, it is 🙂
Isn’t that the best feeling?! Hate clutter especially disorganized clutter. Great solution! I think I am way beyond just needing a new shelf…I think we need a new place! Once the wedding gifts started arriving, I knew we were doomed to be cluttered forever! (No, seriously, I have china and crystal under the beds, in the closets, and in the storage unit. No bueno)
I love order. I really don’t do well with disorder. When mamma aint happy, aint nobody happy 🙂
Yes, you more than doubled your stuff when you got married. We tried to tell ourselves that “people raised large families in 1500 sq. ft. homes. We don’t need a bigger home.” Then a couple months later we put our house up for sale 🙂
Just wait until you have kids (if that is part of your plans) they take up a ton of space. Their worth it though.
