Today we brought home our two new goats. They are Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Our former neighbor Bryn gave them to us as a house warming present. She went with us today to pick them up.
Our first young lady is from a great farm in Monroe called Caprikoda Croft. They have such beautiful goats. Her name is Brown Sugar. Here she is.
This coming Friday she will turn one year old. She has beautiful lines and comes from a really good dam and sire. Her mom’s name is Carinthia and her dad’s name is N’Udder B’Udder. Goat names can be so much fun.
Our second lady is a four year old darling called Halle Berry. She comes from a great farm named Amira Farm and is as gentle as can be. When it comes time to milk her she is a dream on the milking stand. It is very likely that she is pregnant and due to kid at the beginning of August. Oh yes, Halles mom is Cheyenne and her dad is Cary Grant. Who could go wrong with Cary Grant as your dad. Here she is.
They seem to be adjusting to their new home. Goats really need other goats around them so it is always best to get at least two. We could tell that Brown Sugar was very happy to have an older friend in Halle Berry.
We all have a lot to learn. It is good that everyone is so excited to have our goats with us. The chores will be divided up and we will all spend time with them daily. I’ll keep you posted on all we learn in this new adventure.
On another topic. Do you remember Luke our Border Collie? Well while we were getting the goats settled Luke caught a gopher….and ate it. Can you believe such a sweet dog would behave like such an animal?
Have a great Wednesday.
Karen
