After we finished with the barn cleaning the boys got together with their new friends and disappeared. I was busy getting dinner ready when all of a sudden I hear a commotion outside the house. Poking my head out, I spy a half of a dozen boys and a girl or two carrying some big wooden thing. It looked like a bunch of different pieces of wood hammered together. Actually, I was so enthralled with the whole scene that I forgot to take pictures until they were almost to the pond.
They are trying to figure out how to get their “raft” down the bank and into the water.
Joshua thought that the canoe would be of help.
It wasn’t.
They muscled the contraption into the water. Cheers were heard all around “It floats!” Actually it was sitting on the bank in the water.
Using the canoe paddles they attempt to push out into deeper water. My eyes are getting wider with concern at this point.
Joshua, impatient with the slow progress, decides to jump into the water.
It is just a good thing these boys don’t weigh much.
The country life. I think it was a good choice.

Reminds me of Huckleberry Fin. Yes, it was a most excellent decision. How great to have friends / boys in the neighborhood.
We love you,
