Our Thanksgiving at my parents house was delightful. Except for the extra hour the turkey took to cook. Imagine eleven pairs of eyes staring at you. Eleven hungry people asking when they could eat. They were good sports.
We ate mid afternoon this year. Gotta get home and milk goats.
My niece (in the red) was only there for about an hour. She works at JC Penny and had to work on Thanksgiving.
We will be back up there this weekend to celebrate multiple birthdays.
A few days before Thanksgiving, Vincent, the German exchange student living on our lane, came by with a basketball fundraiser. Selling Christmas trees. Even though it has been a number of years since we got a Christmas tree on Thanksgiving weekend, we bought one from Vincent.
On Saturday we went to the tree farm to pick out our tree. Wonderful family farm, sounds like the family is the third generation on this land. The trees take up 20 acres.
We didn’t have to walk too far before we found one all of us liked.
Michael cut it down.
The boys began to carry it to the truck but Nicholas switched jobs with Michael. He had forgotten to wear gloves.
Really beautiful place and trees. So glad to help the high school basketball team and get a beautiful tree too.
Now comes the decorating. I think I’ll promote the boys to “head decorators”. 🙂
Enjoy the Christmas season,
Karen
Sounds like the perfect promotion for the boys…you’ll have other fish to fry…er…cookies to bake! 🙂 Glad you had a good Thanksgiving and also have your tree. We are a little behind there, ours will go up this weekend if all goes well. The foreboding words….We strangely did not have a turkey this year for Thanksgiving for the very reason you mentioned. Being an hour late! We brought a meal to my brother and family (the one who had the accident and is in a wheelchair right now), and I could not buy into cooking a turkey and transporting it hot 4o minutes away once it finally decided it was ready. Then make the gravy. I cooked the turkey the weekend before and made several pans of turkey tetrazzini and thankfully no one complained and it was actually quite goo di f I so day so myself. (!) Have a great week Karen, I know you have a ton to do. xo
I’m glad you were able to spend the holiday with your brother. Turkey is a hassle but we still do it. We may just have to go back to having snacks.
I love Turkey Tetrazzini. I usually do chicken since we eat that more than once a year.
Yes, I do have cookies to make….more since seeing your post today 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
Karen
You are always busy, lots to do and more on your day list than most of us do on our week list!! Enjoy!!
Aunt Pinky
This was fun stuff though!
The boys did such a good job of decorating that I’m making it permanent. Of course if I tell them they “have” to do it each year, they won’t want to.
I’ll tell them they have been promoted to full time Christmas decorators because they did such a good job.
Take care,
Karen
