Oregon sure is beautiful. We have to put up with a lot of rain, and summers that don’t warm up until two days ago, but it is beautiful. A perfect example is Silver Falls State Park and our LONG hike we did on Saturday of Fourth of July weekend.

Silver Falls State Park Hike

A map of the park.

Having lived in Oregon most of my life I had never been to Silver Falls State Park. We’ve spent so much time on the farm, and I’ve missed our little outings we would do when we lived closer to Portland, so we made a decision to hire someone to take care of the goats so we can go enjoy this state we live in again.

Silver Falls State Park is about an hour from our house. We arrived at about 10:00 a.m. and hit the trail.

The entire loop which allows you to see all of the falls is approximately 7.5 miles. There is a lot of up and down so that the total elevation change is around 800 feet. I wore my Fit Bit (first time in a LONG time) and I did over 20,000 steps.

The picture of the snake was crazy. I happened to be looking and saw this yellow racer garter snake slithering on a fern. The man behind me couldn’t get away fast enough. He doesn’t like snakes.

The whole area is very well maintained. You can rent cabins/yurts there and I think it would be fun to do in the winter…..snow.

We had a wonderful time. Sorry about all the pictures. I took almost 200 choosing only 22 to share was exerting tremendous restraint.

If you ever get the chance, you should go to Silver Falls State Park. Stop by the farm first and we will join you.

Enjoy the day,
Karen
