Michael has been taking care of opening the barn in the mornings. It helps me to not have to rush getting everything done before I wake the boys up at 7:30.
I miss seeing the animals each morning though. I went out in the afternoon to visit the chicks and the goats.
Apparently Brown Sugar missed me. As she bites my fingers.
Halle was enjoying the outdoors and all the delicious maple leaves.
I went into the barn to visit Calvin. He kept licking my leg and blowing snot all over me so I decided to keep some distance. He was heart broken. The look of unrequited love.
This is the dad goose. You know. The one that likes to challenge me.
Apparently he took offense with my boots. Decided they needed to be pecked.
Then he bit my fingers.
I think he kind of likes me.
I am the one who gives them grain twice a week. I decided to bribe him after that little love peck. I gave them some of the chicken feed.
A way to a male goose’s heart is through his stomach. Typical guy.
Speaking of the chickens (I’m so good at segue’s)…
One of these chicks is not like the others!
Me thinks we have a rooster.
I’m still holding out hope that it is just a tom boy hen. What do ya think??
Oh well, if he is a boy that is still pretty good. 11 girls and one boy.
We still outnumber the guys.
That’s all that matters.
Until next time,
Karen
PS: What do you think? Should we add a couple of steer to the farm? We have the room.
Of course they would be eaten. So I wouldn’t be showing you pictures of them. Because I can’t eat something that I once enjoyed spending time with. Remember, I’m a city girl living in the country. Some things will never change.
Great blog. Re: steer, Yes! As long as you have the energy. I predict the day will come when without your really knowing it, you will turn into a country girl. It happened to me. The air is addicting in the country. Love you.
Wonderful animals!!! Yes, it would be great to add some steers, it saves on meat from stores and no GMO’s!! That is my advice!!!
Thanks Karen for sharing all your beautiful animals!!!
Love,
Joy
