Michael had plans for our Saturday afternoon. Some sort of survivalist activity. We would need to use compasses, communicate with signals, etc. Then he started working on the garage door project on Friday and didn’t have time to set everything up in the lower acreage.
So we took the goats for a walk. For some reason, Halle Berry and Brown Sugar didn’t want to join us. We took Oreo, Mouse and Ramblin’ Rose.
We walked down the hill, the goats wandering all around.
They stopped at the black berry bushes.
That is as far as they made it. We went on without them.
Nicholas decided to climb a very steep, covered in wet leaves, hill. He says he does it easily in the summer.
We walked down to Salt Creek and followed it along. Nicholas found a rope that was strung across the creek. What is a boy to do when confronted with such an opportunity? Cross the creek.
Now, let’s just pause here for a moment. Remember what I said were Michael’s plans for our Saturday? Some sort of survival activity??? Could this by chance be part of it???? If you know anything about me you can hear me say,”Heck No!” Michael said something about carabiners . I just looked at him.
In case you can’t see him (camouflage clothing) Joshua is showing us how they cross the creek at this point.
Another aside, I’m outnumbered here people! Three guys and this is the stuff they like to do. And sweethearts that they are, they want me to join them.
Oh look, something pretty. A rose hip.
Not sure what this is, but it is pretty.
A log jam that will need to be cleared at some point.
Ahh, look at that sky. My favorite winter weather is temperatures below freezing and clear blue sky.
More prettiness.
So when we returned to the goats they were no longer eating black berries. They had moved a few feet away and were eating leaves.
Brown Sugar decided to join at the end.
When we got back up top I figured out why Halle Berry didn’t want to go on the walk. She is in heat and wanted to stay near the bucks.
Thanx for joining us on this journey!
I hope each of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Karen
PS: I leave you with some cute head shots of the goats.
I know something about what it is like to be outnumbered, Karen! π Beautiful nature walk, and I love those rose hips against the brilliant blue sky. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. xoxo
Everyday is an adventure out your way. How lucky you are. What a sweet and full life you all have.

Yes, it is an adventure. Just returned home from a couple of days in Portland. Definitely missed the farm.
Hugs,

Love the pics, blue sky thru the trees, same as we see here and we have a hole straight up to the sky surrounded by huge firs, maybe 200 ft. God’s Creation is such a blessing.
Love the rose hips. I have some also. The white berries are snowballs. They are indigenous. I have one in my back yard that I brought from the slough. I keep praying that it will give us berries. I will persevere!!
so peaceful just to watch you all having fun in Nature with the precious goats.
I can relate in so many ways.
As you know, Karen, I am also the mother of males..2 sons, 2 grandsons, all our animals were even males
I have always said, God knew what He was doing. You were the next female to enter this family. I think somehoe with God’s help all is well!!!!
Love the precious goat pics. I love them. We also had so many of those Nature walks. With Joshua and Nicholas I think our walks on the slough they don,t remember but the memories are there for me.
Love,
Karren
I thought they were “snowballs” but wasn’t sure.
You are my “go to gal” for knowledge on plants and birds π
xoxo,
Karen
The red berries are rose hips and the white ones are snow berries. We’re gonna have to bring out goats over for a stroll! π
That would be fun. The nice thing about that area is the creek prevents them from going too far. Our goats don’t go down there unless we are with them. They will eat on the hillside but that is as far as they go without us.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving,
Hugs,
Karen
Thank you for taking us on a walk on your beautiful property. Loved getting out. :O) It is 17 degrees out right now but we did have a fire outside Friday night. I had already put on my p.j.’s when my daughter decided to start one. I ran inside got my longjohn’s on underneath the p.j.s and we all sat out for an hour or so enjoying the warm fire and clear bright stars.
You’re welcome. It was nice having you along π
That sounds delightful!. I love clear cold days/nights. Much better than rain.
My guys want snow. Usually doesn’t happen but we can hope.
Enjoy your week,
Karen
