When we made our offer on the house we were asked if we were willing to keep their border collie dog named Luke. His owners had not yet found a home and were going to be staying in their camper. We immediately said yes because we thought it was best that he stay with his home if not with his owners.
Meet Luke.
He is eleven year old and constantly in need of petting. He whimpers when we pet him. I think the change has been difficult for him.
He sleeps in a room in the garage and is up at the crack of dawn. Our last dog, Riley, always slept until 10:00 a.m. Luke loves to be around us. His previous owners didn’t allow him in the house. We have tried to have him come in but he gets in a few feet and then turns around and goes back outside. I think the training really stuck with him. The problem is that we have been in the house a lot with all the unpacking. He seems lonely. We go out and pet him as often as we can.
Being a border collie we know that he is a herding dog. I think it has been years since there were any animals on the farm. He must miss herding.
Then we got the riding lawn mower.
He herds the lawn mower.
Around and around he goes.
“Oh, that was so much fun. I made that big green beast go where I wanted it to go. Just call me Cool Hand Luke.”
“I’ve still got it. Where is my water?…..and my bed?”
We love Luke.

Fun! Love that breed of dog. They need a lot of excersize though, so good that ole’ Luke’s age slows him down a bit. Love your blogs, & look forward to the next one. Love to you.
So happy to hear from you. We are having so many adventures here that it is fun to be able to share them.
Love from all of the Espalins
So great to catch up on your move Karen! With love from New Orleans, the Brantley clan.
