On Saturday I decided to try to pull some of the thistle that grows in the girls outdoor pen. It had rained this week ,which made the soil softer, and the thistles were easier to pull out. Our goats don’t eat thistles.
You probably already know that goats are great climbers. They love to climb on anything.
Joshua grabbed Michael’s iPhone and took the pictures.
It began with the babies. First Randy and then Jessie joined him. Thankfully they don’t weigh much.
When I moved closer to one of the climbing structures I knew it would be easy for them to get on my back. I put my arm up to be able to hold them off. That strategy didn’t work very well. The adolescence, as we now call them, are quite a bit heavier. Those hooves leave nice bruises.
At this I decided to get up. They can live with the thistle.
Should I get hazardous pay? Or should I consider it free chiropractic?
Have a great day,
Karen
Great shots! Love Mouse’s one legged “test”… :o)
What naughty, naughty goats… that’s why we love them!!!!!
XO,B
We do love them.
There is a weight point at which what feels good on your back suddenly becomes back breaking. The babies are still at the good stage. The adolescence, way past it.
When we sit outside in the grass with them they will sometimes plant both front feet on your shins. Really painful.
Have a great day.

That’s hilarious. You could use a long-handled weed puller and not give them such a tempting target.
Yes, pretty much most things having to do with the goats are hilarious.
Those thistle have pretty deep roots. I think next time I’ll just cut them and then use horticultural vinegar.
Thanx for reading the blog.
Karen
They are smarter than I thought, they will not eat thistles. Well too bad about that for you. Great pictures, fun seeing you and your sidekicks on the farm!
I really wanted them to eat thistles. When we first got them last summer I thought they would eat them. I’ve tried spraying them with horticultural vinegar but it works best if they are small.
I need to get them while they are young.
Yes, they are very smart and very adventurous.
Have a great day,
Karen
