As many of you that live here in the Pacific Northwest already know, it has been a cooler summer than in the last few years and everything has taken longer to mature.
In addition, this year the deer completely demolished more than half of our tomatoes and peppers shortly after we transplanted them into the garden. It seemed as if we would never grow anything from our garden to eat this year.
Better late than never. Our cucumbers and zucchini have been doing well for weeks, and all of our tomatoes are finally turning color, and they are big and abundant. Also our Marconi, jalapeño, and bell peppers are all producing lots of peppers too.
Always so nice to see the harvest, especially when there have been challenges and doubts throughout the growing season. I will admit, I jinxed it when I proclaimed right after planting in the spring “I think this will be the best garden yet”. Proceeded immediately by weather and wildlife interference.
Wishing you a bountiful harvest!

Amen! Good to hear from you Joy. I hope all is well.
Second the “cooler” summer here….My zukes have produced 3 so far…..horrible summer for them. Tomatoes are finally ripening. I had warm weather loving flowers decline too. So bummed about this summer. Your basket of produce is beautiful.
Ahh..some fresh veggies. Is it your farm?
