Well now we know that Halle Berry was pregnant. It only took two kids shooting out of her before we were certain.
Her timing was impeccable too. Friday June 12 the boys and I were at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum along with 30 other people in a group I put together attending one of their homeschool classes, Submersibles. It was in their huge water park. We knew that morning that Halles tail ligaments had gone completely soft. When that happens they are within twelve hours of kidding. That was at 6:45 a.m. Who know when in the night they went soft.
Michael called me about 11:30 a.m. to let me know she seemed like she was getting close. Thankfully a lot of the moms and kids that were part of the group were friends from Portland. My dear friend Teddy said she would watch the boys while I was gone. I didn’t get a chance to locate the boys and tell them, which they were not too happy about, but they survived.
Halle actually didn’t start showing signs of labor until about 2:30. As usual, the first baby takes longer to come out. Here is her buckling entering the world.
It took a number of minutes for him to be born. Once out Halle went to work eating cleaning off all the slimy stuff.
About five minutes passed when she lays down and it was immediately clear that she had another kid in there. This is the little doeling making her entrance.
She had a cute little face plant in her efforts to get to the milk.
The kids are pretty wobbly at first, but like animals do, they began trying to walk pretty quickly. A need to nurse motivates them.
Finding the milk dispenser is hard enough but then they have to get their little mouths open wide enough to fit the teet.
See how in the first picture they are at the wrong end? That happens often the first day.
Halle Berry is such a good momma. Making sure they get cleaned.
But of course she has to eat too.
Here is a picture of them at about 20 hours old.
Here are the babies at about 46 hours old.

Halle is five years old and has had kids before so there wasn’t anything we had to do. She is a good momma.
It was so nice to have her kidding take place in the middle of the afternoon, on a warm day and without incident.
We videotaped the whole thing. It was almost an hour long since we just put the camera on a tripod and let it film while we went about our business. Michael is going to shorten and edit it and we will put it up as a new post.
Enjoy your day,
Karen
What a pair of beauties… :o) So glad you got to be there. Can’t wait to see them!
XO,B
It was so easy. Much nicer kidding in warmer weather and in the afternoon.
Can’t wait for you to see them on Wednesday.
Hugs,
Karen
How amazing to see these kids being born! They are so cute!
Yes, it is amazing to watch.
They are even cuter once they dry off 🙂
We will post the video once we trim the time a lot.
Have a great day,
Karen
What an exciting event! Sounds like the boys were bummed they missed it, but hooray that you have it all on video.
It was definitely more fun this time. Middle of the day helps a lot.
Yes, getting it on video was cool. We will get it up hopefully this week.
Take care,
Karen
So much fun to be part of the action via your wonderful photos and descriptions. Amazing.
love you all
It was so easy. No problems at all. Much nicer than the 1:30 in the morning kidding with Brown Sugar.
I’m glad you are enjoying the posts.
Love to both of you,
Karen
Congratulations! Such adorable kids they are Karen. Great photos! So glad to be in on this amazing journey!
Yes, very much a journey. We are just so glad to get to do this. It is definitely easier during the summer.
Very glad you are following along,
Take care,
Karen
I am so happy for you! Two kids born in the middle of the day (not night) and without complications.
Way to go, Halle!
Hope everybody is feeling well.
How many new kids do you have now? How many milking does? Are you expecting a new freshening any time soon?
Now, that I have goats of my own, I’ll be asking a lot of questions if you don’t mind 🙂
Kimberly
Yes, it was so delightfully easy.
After not quite a year of having goats we now have 12.
3 bucks, 2 does in heat, 3 does that will be one year in October, 2 babies born 4/3 and 2 babies born 6/12.
We are doing Linear Appraisal on Monday 6/30. From that we will know the strengths and weaknesses of our goats (not the babies). With that information we will decide who to match up for breeding.
Thankfully we live in an area with a lot of really nice Nigerian Dwarf Goats.
Questions are welcome. Keep them coming.
Hugs,
Karen
P.S. What breed is Halle Berry? She looks like my Saanen Daisy, but she doesn’t have a beard.
Kimberly
She is a Nigerian Dwarf Goat. All of ours are NDG.
