Each year the boys take turns putting the angel on the Christmas tree. This is the first year for Nicholas that he felt he didn’t need dad lifting him up. Don’t know how I feel about that 🙁
As I said in my last post, I promoted the boys to managers of the Christmas decorating. I was much younger than them when my sister and I took on that responsibility. I can remember my mom saying how happy she was to not have to do it anymore. I agree. I enjoyed it better in our previous home. After a few years you get a design set and you stick with it. Don’t have that here yet. I’m fine with letting the boys figure it out.
One change was where we put the Christmas tree. Last year we had it upstairs.
This year everyone agreed to try it downstairs. Here is Nicholas using a chair ( I feel better now) to put the angel on top.
I’m still undecided whether I like it better upstairs or downstairs. I’ll have it figured out by New Years Day.
They put up lights and decorated other things as well. They even ran lights up the stairs.
Nicholas patiently strung lights around the bookcase (note the blue tape) and is getting frustrated because it keeps falling down.
The boys also decorated the wood stove area.
Michael put some garland around the double doors upstairs.
Here is what the tree looks like from the front.
The back is against the sofa. Here is what we see when watching TV.
I think my guys have done a great job decorating for Christmas. I’m sure as we are here longer we will figure out what works best for certain locations and how to hang lights without them falling down.
On a side note, Joshua wanted you all to see is deer hide he and his dad tanned. Our neighbor Nick shot the deer and gave the hide to Joshua.
He learned a lot and did a great job.
Enjoy the Christmas Season,
Karen
Love seeing your decorated tree and house, Karen, though it is a reminder of how far behind I am! I was just sugaring some cranberries when your post came through. You know what’s funny, is we have a very similar angel for our tree. We got ours in Atlanta from Ballard Design in the outlet room. All the wings were broken on many of the angels and they were being sold for a song years ago, maybe $2.50. I bought one and glued up our angel and he has been beautifully topping our tree for at least a score. I see some very similar ornaments on your trees as on ours. The one I noticed first is the heart with the flag on it. Someone made one very similar for us several years ago, I love it. Lucky Joshua with that hide. Curious if he’ll make a rug out of it for his room. So soft.
Oh, I don’t think you are behind. The boys are doing their best to keep that tree full of water in hopes it won’t dry out. I bought that angel more than 20 years ago. Sale, thought it was great even though as a single gal I never decorated for Christmas….funny.
That flag/heart was actually a Christopher Radko special edition the Christmas after 9-11. I like his ornaments.
Actually, the deer hide is in Joshua’s room on the floor. And that is where it belongs…..not like all those clothes on the floor.
Take care,
Karen
Nice job guys… looks so festive!
XO,B
I think they did a great job…..and I didn’t have to do it (the best part)
Just did milk test verification today. It is done so now I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Next time I’m scheduling spring/summer verification.
Going out in the dark and rain not so much fun with a visitor.
Hugs,
Karen
