What a busy weekend we had. It was a fun weekend but busy with fun. That is a bit of a change for us. Usually it is the work kind of fun.
On Friday our wonderful neighbors threw a big party. Their daughter Glory was graduating from high school the next day. It also happened to be the birthday of another wonderful neighbor by the name of Geri. Glory’s best friend, Mysteri, also had a birthday that day, and was graduating the next day.So needless to say, it was a lot of food, fun and good friends that night.
Since the next day was Michael’s birthday, his parents came down on Friday and attended the party with us. They stayed with us for the weekend and we all had a great time even though the temperature was in the 90’s ( I didn’t mind, I’m cold most of the year so being warm is a nice change)
Dean (in the orange hat) dug a hole in the ground and slow roasted some pork as taught to him by his Hawaiian friends. It was delicious. Guests brought salads and there was a big birthday cake and another cake for graduation.
They had a DJ who played some great music and also brought along his own “photo booth”.
Here are my guys having their pictures taken.
After the pictures were taken he printed out a post card size collage with all your pictures as well as a picture of either Glory or Mysteri. The boys took some funny pictures with their friend Regan. Who knew those boys could ham it up.
Here is Geri and her wonderful hubby Charlie.
Here they are with our hosts Dean and his lovely wife Jen.
God is so good to put us in a neighborhood with such great people.
We had a great time but didn’t stay too late. My in-laws had already gone back to the house and we followed not too long afterward.
As usual I didn’t get pictures of Michael’s birthday day. I guess I just get distracted with cooking and chatting with my in-laws.
Speaking of cooking, I had a turkey in the freezer that we thawed out and Michael smoked that morning. It was accompanied by baked yams, dressing, gravy and a cold pea salad. Michael is so good at smoking meats. Everything was tasty.
We worked in the garden a little and called it a day when Michael’s brother arrived. It is always nice to spend time with our family.
Enjoy life,
Karen
