You’re going to love this pizza sauce. You may even agree with me that it is the best pizza sauce EVER.

Best Pizza Sauce

This time of year is VERY busy for my family. Not only all the holiday stuff but we have four birthdays in there as well.

I find myself scrambling more frequently during December for a quick dinner because I’ve either forgotten to thaw something or buy something.

Years ago I found a pizza sauce recipe on Allrecipes. I liked it. But it needed more flavor. I added more flavor. I made it better than it was before. Better. Stronger. Faster.  Whoops, I was suddenly a kid back on the family room floor watching “The Six Million Dollar Man.”

Pizza is only as good as the sauce and the crust (in my humble opinion). Today I’m giving you a great sauce recipe.

In the future I’ll share the best pizza dough recipe. You have to be patient though. I am pretty sure making pizza dough is too much work right now for you and me.

Don’t worry though. Get a nice loaf of French bread or some yummy flat bread. Dinner in 45 minutes.

Give it a try. I think you will like it.

The Best Pizza Sauce

We make pizza. Often. Without a good crust and a good sauce, I'm not a pizza fan. This sauce however is to die for.

  • 3 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese fresh is best but not necessary
  • 2 cloves garlic pressed
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/16 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/16 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Mix all the ingredients together and let sit for at least 30 minutes.

Notes

You can find the anchovy paste in the condiment aisle of your local grocery store. It comes in a tube within a box.
The easiest way to make pizza is to get really good French bread if you like it thick. If you prefer it thin (I do) then use some flat bread.
I've altered the original recipe that Angie Gorkoff posted on Allrecipes.
